Shop Sparta is a magical evening with the lighting of the big tree in town, pictures with Santa, lighted floats, and it ends with a spectacular firework show. We are thankful to have so many people come for this special night in Sparta! This year, November 22, lighted floats will be parked on E Division from Union to Elm for all to walk around and look at, and these floats will be parked in place for the entire event. The crowds of people that flowed into the streets in the past made it difficult to safely hold a parade, and it was confusing when the parade stopped and never moved on. We want to avoid that confusion by eliminating the parade while still having the lighted floats for all to see. All are welcome to come from 6-8pm to walk through the closed street and view the parked floats (make sure to vote for your favorite one!). All floats will need to be in place by 5:30pm, and they must stay until 8pm when they will be dismissed safely by police and DPW.
