Inclusive Fun in Rogers Park

Rogers Park it getting more fun for everyone with the installation of a wheelchair accessible swing! After years of discussions and planning, the Village was finally able to move forward with their plan to start creating a more accessible park for everyone in town. This project didn't come easy, with serious structure planning and placement concerns, the swing was a long time coming. And it couldn't have come at a better time than now! With the help of the local Downtown Public Works Department, construction of the swing set was able to begin earlier this month. The swing spent some time hanging out in the DPW garage we're the team strategized the best and safest way to set it in the park.

One mom in particular is very excited to see the new addition to Roger's Park. Tiffany Breen gave insight to the happiness she felt about the swing, "I really can’t put into words how nice it is to have a wheelchair accessible swing in our hometown! What an example of inclusion! We can’t wait to make regular visits knowing our daughter will have something special for her to look forward to! Proud to be Spartan!" We can't wait to see Tiffany's daughter, and everyone else enjoy the swing!

The cement has been poured on the base of this earlier this week, so it's only a matter of a few days before the swing is ready for use! The swing is projected to be ready today (8/19/20). Any updates can be found on the Village Facebook Page or the Sparta Today Facebook Page!
