Did you hear about the new race course for the Run Thru Sparta 5K on July 14 during Town & Country Days? This year, the course will start and end in Balyeat Field by the Entertainment Tent! At the finish line of the course will be a Craft Show, Commercial Expo, Petting Zoo, Wacky Hair, Football Toss, and Kid’s Fun Run. Nearby, Rogers Park will have the Pet Expo & Dog Walk and the Visual Arts will be on display in the Library both within a short stroll of Balyeat Field. After a morning full of fun, the Town & Country Days parade starts at Noon.
The race course is a fast, flat 5K (3.1 miles) winding through the streets of the “Town” of Sparta and out into the “Country” on River Road/Stebbin’s and loops back to the starting line. The 5K family Walk/Run is sponsored by The Club Fitness & Tanning, Wesco, tesa tape, and Hessel Cheslek Funeral Home. Registration begins at 6:30 am on July 14 or pre-registration is online at www.goracego.com.
New this year, there is a “Run For Beer” category for adult participants 21 or older. A Valid ID is required and Race Registration gives you two FREE dink tickets to be used at the Town and Country Days Beer Tent, plus a t-shirt that will say Run for Beer! Tickets are good for water, pop, or alcoholic beverages. All competitors timed and scored with the 5K Run/Walk.
Kids Paid Race Registration for the 5K gives each person 3 FREE carnival ride tickets at Town and Country Days, plus a t-shirt that will say Run for Rides. All competitors timed and scored with the 5K Run/Walk.
Additionally, there will be a Free Run For Kids: FREE!!!! Race Registration gives you 3 FREE carnival rides tickets at Town and Country Days. No t-shirt available for the free Run for Kids. Enjoy The Fun at 8:40 a.m. for the non-competitive, separate course from 5K for kids 12 yrs & younger. Fun prizes and awards for participants.
